Read-alongs have been shown to increase reading comprehension, retention, and focus. Studies have also shown that children's "listening" vocabulary is more advanced than their reading and writing vocabulary. Audio books help boost a child's reading level by allowing them to listen at a higher reading level than they would normally be comfortable.
Teacher Guides are 30-40 pages and begin with a synopsis of the book and its author and some pre-reading activities. The guides contain vocabulary words, discussion questions (with answers), suggested activities and culminate with questions and activities.
Student Packets may include activity pages, study guides, graphic organizers, writing and/or listening and speaking prompts, critical thinking challenges, quizzes and unit test. Answers are included in the back, along with an essay evaluation form (i.e. rubric).
